Eirik Ardvensson: born in 875 A.D. or thereabouts. Life as a soldier seemed more interesting than working as a hunter's apprentice so he didn't shave for a month and went to sell his sword as soon he had enough wispy down to pass as stubble. Left for dead on a bloody battlefield, he regained consciousness when a wolf tried to scavenge off his body. He killed it and woke up as a beast with the full moon later that night, eating the corpses around him to repair the damage done.
Erik Anderson: the beast inside the human keeps him young and regenerates his injuries at a price. He has lived over a thousand years, skirting the wolf within and learning to harness its power. His accent is a jumbled mix of everywhere but he still prefers colder environments and active, combat work.
The Beast: a lupine monster, that when he is highly stressed, it rips its way into reality. Its eyes are level with his shoulders, with a pelt as pale as the human's hair and eyes the same grey. It is a wild and savage thing, driven by nothing but its animal instincts.
He consciously tries to keep himself lighthearted and nonchalant, flopping over chairs, leaning on the nearest surface, all loose-limbed and carefree.
- looks to be in the prime of young adulthood
- pale hair, pale grey eyes
- pulls his lips back from his teeth when startled
- ears twitch when he's straining to listen to something
- thick fleece-lined bomber jacket, half-sleeved Henley, black jeans, low boots, a silver hammer amulet around his neck
- likes rare meat, hot showers and technology
- animals dislike him, even normal wolves. Prey animals tend to go fear-mad at his scent, predators are aggressive
- with the advent of technology, he's worked out that the shifts are somehow related to virus and hormone levels
- he is contagious through large doses of body fluid exposure, he doesn't give blood or even share food.
- silver is toxic to the virus, it slows his regeneration
- full moon tidal pulls, stress and increasing cortisol levels stimulates it
- technology still hasn't advanced far enough to entirely work out why it happens
