Tae Kyu Hee received her longest lasting callsign two hours after she made lieutenant. LT went to 'cutie' from QT and before she could pull rank, one of her guys called her Kyu-T before the entire platoon. The culprit got latrine duty for two weeks but the name stuck through all her successive promotions. Regardless of her current rank, those in her platoon still call her lieutenant and QT to her face.
General Troube took a shine to the young officer, taking her under his wing through his multiple promotions and just slightly fewer official inquiries. Troube's almost paternal attention to Kyu made a lasting impression on her, almost contradictory to his wild, reckless attitude towards life. Although still given to taking high-value risks and letting the discipline of her soldiers slide, Kyu is far more cautious than her mentor, following the guidelines and generally staying on the right side of the official line. She's a straight-laced commander who has earned her soldiers' loyalty a thousand times over, still entering the field when she can due to the severe lack of combat-effective personnel. It's a risk, but she's willing to take it if it means edging over the fine line of tactical victory. The punishment duties are still assigned to those deserving of them, even for the smallest infractions, but if the offenders can hide their actions before she steps into the room, Tae will turn a blind eye. She's harsh but fair and will never break the ground rules herself, in front of her superiors. Off duty and out of eyesight however, everything and anything goes. Every soldier is known by face if not by name and whilst she understands the dirty humour, she'll smile but never let herself laugh. Nevertheless, whenever anyone mentions the platoon's strictly unofficial and bloody pretentious motto, "in a blaze of glory", she does find it rather difficult to hide her snickering. |
Negotiations have failed.
They're two days behind their army.
They're twelve kilometres in front of the hostiles.
They're all that's left of the 56th Platoon and they're going to make the enemy pay
